About The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute The SVSU-OLLI program was established in September 2001. Since then, we have grown to over 1200 members! Members come from throughout the mid-Michigan area. Our original name was the SVSU Institute for Learning in Retirement. We changed our name in 2005 to the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) after receiving a grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation. To date, over 120 schools in the nation have the unique distinction of being supported by this generous foundation. We are proud that we were the first school in the State of Michigan to receive this designation. We believe that the SVSU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute provides a plethora of programs and activities for adults over 50 who embrace this adventure called life… • Interest Groups Achance to get together on a regular basis with others who share your passion for a sport, social activity or interest - we call them Interest Groups. Active groups include: Buddhist Psychology Digital Photography Board Games & Cards Flora and Fauna Scrapbooking Pickleball Writing • Membership Newsletter Monthly newsletters & bi-monthly emails which keep you up to date on OLLI programs and other SVSU activities includ- ing lectures, concerts and plays. Membership Discounts • 50% Off OLLI Classes OLLI offers unique classes which are all about learning, but without tests, grades and papers. Classes usually meet for three to five times for two-hour sessions, no long term commitments. • Travel Discount Why Join OLLI? SVSU-OLLI is a membership-based program. The annual membership fee is $50 and is prorated as the year progresses. Members receive a 50% discount on classes, reduced pricing on trips, and much more. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute 2 Educational and “just plain fun” day trips, multiple-day domestic and international travel opportunities with other OLLI members. We generally offer at least one day trip a month and up to two international trips a year. • Discounted Ryder Center membership Enjoy a regular fitness program at SVSU’s physical education and recreation facility.
