The Art of Drawing Manga Want to draw Manga? Are you ready to draw your favorite characters or create your own? Don’t just let your characters stand with their arms at their sides, make them come to life by learning good figure drawing, using action and movement, and working with interesting perspectives. Learn inking and coloring techniques to create finished renderings! Share ideas and concepts with other students interested in anime and manga! Instructor: Keith McGuire ART in Action This class is designed for students that want to experience the “FUN” in the FUNdamentals of art! During this foundation class, we will discuss shapes, both geometric and organic and learn how to make secondary and tertiary colors out of only three primary colors using paint. We will discover how to create a mood in a piece of art by using color and experiment with composition, and recognize symmetry and asymmetry. Instructor: Flipside Art Studio The ARTfullness of Lines, Color and Shapes! This class is designed for children that enjoy art and have experience in art making. Students will learn to use a variety of lines and shapes to form positive and negative spaces in their designs. They will utilize pattern and texture and learn how to create value with paint and pencil. Students will excel in their use of color and begin to develop their own individual artistic styles. In this session we will create 2-3 pieces of art, that enter into two-dimensional and three-dimensional production. Instructor: Flipside Art Studio Artisans in the Making! This class is great for the young art extraordinaire that loves making art! Your child will learn how to create variety in a composition all while maintaining unity and balance in their pieces of art. Your art enthusiast will learn how to create contrast using color by introducing color mixing and blending. This session we will create 3-4 projects that enter into two-dimensional production, exploring a more extensive variety of tools and media. Instructor: Flipside Art Studio Exploring the Elements of ART! This class is perfect for the talented artist who loves to be creative! Students will be exposed to 3-D art making as well as more extensive 2-D drawing and painting. We will discuss observational skills in making art regarding lines and shapes all while exploring each child’s unique imagination and idea. Students will use a broad color palette and understand how to use color. In this session, we will create 3-4 pieces of art, that enter into two-dimensional and three-dimensional production. Instructor: Flipside Art Studio Young Rembrandts: “The Power of Drawing” Fall Session A: Back to school begins as we introduce our students to a fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. We start with a detailed still life drawing of a beach and continue to explore proportion and composition in our chameleon and fire truck renderings. Learning about shading and multiple color schemes, we create a unique design of stylized fall leaves. Our students will learn cultural themes as they create a piece of Kawaii inspired art. No lesson is ever repeated! Fall Session B: We start our Fall B classes studying the “power of line” as it relates to drawing a patterned design of a lion. Learning how to render a dalmatian, we focus on its unique pattern of spots and learning about positive and negative space. Our special art history lesson brings attention to the work of a famous artist. From realistic, to stylistic, to abstract fine art, we use many different concepts and techniques in creating our masterpieces! Instructor: Kathy Baker
