Bookstore Offerings To Expand

Tim Fausch

Who knew the bookstore at the Troy campus was stuffed with nearly 3,000 items?

From Bibles to books to Cds to Woodside apparel, the bookstore and its contents have been a bit of a secret.

That’s about to change.

New store co-managers Carolyn Schmidt, Carolyn Johnston and Sheila Askew, along with a halfdozen volunteers, plan to unveil enhancements this spring to lure more visitors.

The most noticeable change will be remodeling that connects the bookstore to a new coffee café. Located at the north entrance, the redesign will encourage people to walk through the Bridges Café and the bookstore. The store also will receive new shelving and displays.

According to Johnston, better displays will help visitors find items more easily.

“Many people don’t know we have Bible cases, greeting cards, movies and clothing, in addition to books and Cds,” Johnston said. “We want people to see the merchandise and realize we can meet a lot of their needs.”

But what excites the store managers the most is transforming the store into a resource center for Woodside.

“Our goal is to stock the books and materials for Bible studies taking place in the church,” said Schmidt. “We want people to grow in their Christian walks.”

“The bookstore is an exciting ministry of the church,” says Askew. “We plan to expand the offerings to provide wider variety for teens, college and career, and other groups. We also want to highlight different authors each month.”
